Does Bleach Kill Mold?

This is one of the most widely publicized urban legends. Bleach is a powerful oxidizer and can, in many instances, sanitize surfaces of certain types of bacteria but when you are faced with an area that has mold on it, bleach is NOT effective.

Bleach is effective in removing the color of mold but most likely will leave the mold spores intact so that the mold can return.

The sanitization procedure that I use includes the use of air purification units that use o3 to kill the mold spores at their source. Secondly, I use an organic, non-chemical based cleanser to wipe the dead mold spores off the affected area.
